Parenting Course - January 11th

Beginning in the new year, St. Timothy’s Church is offering a Parenting Course: “Your Child, the Essentials of Discipline: What’s Okay, What’s Not and What Works.” This free course combines a video presentation, by popular author  and psychologist Dr. James Dobson, with discussion. Starting at 7 pm the group will meet on the following dates: March 8, March 22, April 5, April 19, May 3, May 17, May 31, June 14. Topics such as Anger vs. Action, To Spank or Not to Spank, and The Strong-Willed Adolescent, are sure to spark lively debate. Everyone is welcome . Church connection not required. Children's VBS Fundraiser

Organizers for this summer's children's Vacation Bible School are holding a special March Break fundraiser. It's "Kids' Dinner & a Movie" set for Wednesday, March 17th, from 12-noon to 3 p.m. in St. Timothy's Hall. The program is open to all children in the community who are ages 5 to 12. Cost is $5 per person and includes hotdogs, juice, dessert, popcorn and a family film. For more info, contact Rev. Cheryl (852-3959).

St. Timothy's Sunday School Winter and Spring

Seasons of the Spirit CurriculukGet the kids on track in 2010!

Our Parish Sunday School resumes classes Sunday, January 10th. at 11 a.m. in St. Timothy’s Hall. The curriculum is “Seasons of the Spirit” and is in sync with our lectionary (Sunday readings schedule). It really is “the best hour of the week”! Kids may register at any time.

Superintendent is Dawn Purcell (852-3046). Newcomers and visitors always welcome . Church connection is not required.

Rock On Prospect Road!

We now have eight members in "Alive!" our rock band that plays every Sunday, 7 p.m. in St. Timothy's Church for "Jesus & Jeans" worship. Members are Brent Chezenko, Ann Moore, Wayne Gardner, Angela Rae, Sheila Lamplugh, Sharon Resky, Rosalyn Umlah and Marcel Aucoin. This relaxed service is for all ages  and features various worship elements like multi-media presentations, relevant messages and creative participation. Everyone is invited!
 

Parish Lenten Theme - Spiritual Boot Camp: Working Out Your Faith

As we journey together this sacred season of Lent, preparing for Easter, our Parish Lenten Theme will be: “Spiritual Bootcamp: Working Out Your Faith.” Our preaching series features the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Heavenly Virtues . Topics will include: Gluttony & Self-Control, Greed & Generosity and Sloth & Diligence. We’ll seek to get fit spiritually over the 40 days of Lent.

Time Change! Set your Clocks Ahead!

Halifax Clock TowerThis is that time of year again! The days are once again getting longer. Saturday evening set your clocks ahead one hour. Otherwise, when you arrive at church Sunday morning, we'll all be leaving for lunch! Don't get caught being late Sunday, set your clock ahead one hour before going to bed!

 Daylight Savings Time Begins the second Sunday in March, at 2 am (this year March 14th). Daylight Savings Time Ends the first Sunday in November, at 2 am (this year November 7th).

 

 

Parish Spotlight!

Easter Bonnet with Frills Upon it

St. Paul's annual favourite Fancy Easter Hat Sunday is May 16th. It's an opportunity to show up for worship in your fanciest or zanyist hat. Pull out that sunhat, beret, fedora or cowboy hat! Everyone is encouraged to participate. Men, women and children wear goofy and decorated hats. A reception follows the Easter season Morning Prayer worship. For info. contact Judi Eld (852-4447).
