When taking Eucharist, we encourage everyone to take BOTH the blessed Bread and wine.
BREAD:
(a) To intinct (dip) the wafer bread (round disk) in the wine, please put two fingers together to signal to the Eucharistic Minister that you want that type of bread.
(b) For regular loaf bread, simply open your hands. DO NOT INTINCT (DIP) LOAF BREAD IN THE WINE. ONLY WAFERS are for INTINCTING. Watch you don’t put your fingers in the wine too!
(c) Children should always consume the bread/wafer before leaving the rail at Communion.
WINE:
(a) To receive a sip of wine, tip the bottom of the chalice (cup) toward you. It’s perfectly okay to touch the chalice.
(b) If you wish NOT to taste the wine: simply HOLD the CHALICE for a few seconds when it is passed to you. This means you are symbolically receiving the wine.
DISABILITY: If you are not able to kneel at the rail for communion, it is perfectly appropriate to STAND to receive the bread and the wine. For parishioners who are not able to walk forward, our Eucharistic Ministers will bring it down into the congregation.
