The annual remembrance of the wreck of the steamship took place at the Heritage Park monument in Terence Bay, off Sandy Cove Rd, on July 20th, 2007. Her Honour the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, Mayann E Francis, and the Primate, Archbishop Fred J. Hiltz were in attendance. We were also honoured with the attendance of HRM Mayor, Peter Kelly, Liberal MP, Geoff Regan, and NDP MLA, Bill Estabrooks.

The head of the Anglican Church of Canada, the Primate, Archbishop Fred J. Hiltz was guest preacher at the annual S.S. Atlantic Memorial Service & Boat Blessing on Sunday, July 29th. This was one of our departing Diocesan Bishop’s last sermons in our region.

A special thanks to Bruce Holland and all the team from the SS Atlantic Heritage Park Board and many others from Terence Bay for their care and diligence in this annual remembrance. Thanks to the Praise & Worship Team, Mike Rafuse and Laurie Appleby, and to all the clergy and ministers who participated.

This outdoor remembrance took place at the monument site beside St. Paul’s Church and behind the Interpretation Centre in Terence Bay to honour the 562 lives lost during the 1873 tragedy.

Forgiveness is Empowering

The key that unlocks the prison of unforgiveness is crossed-shaped. Forgiveness is the restoration of freedom to oneself. It is the key held in our own hand to our own prison cell. Are you burdened by something in your past? Can't seem to let go of it? Maybe you cannot forgive someone? This season of Lent take time and discover peace through Reconciliation (Confession).
